Description
This sophisticated round drinks table draws on French Directoire, campaign table, and Neoclassical lines, in the style of Maison Jansen, Gilbert Poillerat, and Raymond Subes. The tripod frame carries crossed X-stretchers, slender legs, and pad feet.
I refinished the brass framework in my atelier with a multi-step distressed gold leaf application. The process starts with a hand-gilded base layer, then multilayered stains built up to settle into the recesses and add depth. I finished the metalwork with hand-applied fly speckling and an antiqued stained gold patina.
The inset black glass top contrasts against the bright gold frame. It works as a French gueridon statement piece with Hollywood Regency appeal.
Note on provenance. This is an authentic Global Views design. It is unmarked because the original paper branding tag is no longer present.
Turtle and Crane Atelier.
"Turning the past into stunning decor for today."

Condition:
Alterations: Original Design Modified
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: The glass inset top and metal frame are structurally excellent, showing no cracks, or structural dents. Some light surface scratches appropriate from use and age. The framework features an intentional, multi-step artisanal finish consisting of custom hand-applied gold leafing, deep multi-layered stains, and artistic fly-speckling to create a weathered, authentic antique character. There is light surface wear to the glass top and under-carriage commensurate with the age of the base piece, which beautifully blends into the distressed patina of the custom finish."
