Description
An exceptional early 20th C. American Painting
Original oil on canvas - Luminist style sunset landscape across a stream and a lush landscape.
Featuring lovely greens, yellow, blaze orange, and exceptionally ell-executed clear blue water with reflections. .
Large size - 37.25" wide and 29.25" tall in its original gold gilt wooden molding.
Frame is 3" wide and 2" deep - artist signed in lower right - Dr. E.A. Harper, which may be Dr. Eugene Harper Johnson (1916-2016), an acclaimed American artist and illustrator.
Subtle, elegant, still bold - a centerpiece of a fine room and a worthy member of a fine collection.
In keeping with Aesop's fable, Fox and Crow's Motto is "Beware of False Flattery!" So, with each listing we offer a true confession about the item...
It's truly beautiful.
Before we measured it, before we assessed condition, before we examined the frame, before we dated the materials in the stretcher, we just stared at it.
For a while.
Then my husband said "whatever it takes...we should try and take that home."
If you love the softness and grace of this beautiful style of landscape painting, so should you. You will never be sorry!
