Description
Bold, graphic original painting on paper depicting a white-skinned, red-haired woman surrounded by large yellow roses and white dogwood blossoms against a deep purple background. Executed in flat, opaque color fields with white contour lines, characteristic of 1970s pop art and commercial illustration. Signed with copyright mark by William "Bill" Henry Green (1945-2011), a documented Southern regional artist who settled in Duluth, GA, and was represented by the Arthur James Gallery in Atlanta and the Atrium Gallery in Augusta. Green worked in oil, watercolor, gouache, acrylics, and print media, and consulted extensively with the textile industry, a background clearly reflected in this work's bold, pattern-forward design sensibility. Housed in a red-painted wood frame.
