TRIAL OF BRUNO HAUPTMANN FOR CHARLES LINDBERGH, JR. KIDNAPPING/MURDER [DAVID T. WILENTZ; WALTER WINCHELL]. Original/vintage photograph, 1935 courtroom scene in Flemington, New Jersey, showing prosecutor David Wilentz (N.J. Attorney General, 1934-1944) seated at the table center left. Walter Winchell (back of head) identified at bottom (See Winchell, by Neil Gabler, 1994:173; this photo used for illustration). 10 1/4" 13 1/4" (framed 10 3/4" x 14"). Condition: the image is good, but there are now losses to corners, significant creasing/edge tears to corners/margins. TOGETHER WITH another original/vintage photograph (unidentified) of a courtroom audience from the same lot/collection, likely the Lindbergh/Hauptmann "trial of the century."  PROVENANCE: THE HAROLD A. LAYER COLLECTION. From The Walter Winchell Files, Butterfield & Butterfield, 1990/91.
