DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS JR. (1909-2000). A single-page typed letter signed by Fairbanks ("Doug") on letterhead for 50 East 58th St., New York; addressed to Walter Winchell at the World Journal Tribune, New York, dated January 4, 1967. 10 1/2" x 7." Condition good; fold creases; light toning from having once been framed/matted; pencil line and note of "Celebs," presumably for Winchell's files. Fairbanks wishes Winchell a happy new year, then gets to his concern: "...a minor (very minor, very unimportant) correction: you stated in an item that I was 'co-landlord' of the Blackstone Hotel [Chicago]... It so happens that, although I've had a permanent apartment there for many years, I have never had anything whatsoever to do with the hotel." He then jokes, "...I thought I'd mention it just in case someone holds me responsible for their hot water not being hot enough, or if they didn't get enough bath towels or something." PROVENANCE: THE HAROLD A. LAYER COLLECTION. From The Walter Winchell Files, Butterfield & Butterfield, 1990/91.
