A circa 1930 original photograph of The Palace Theater, New York, featuring on the marque Walter Winchell, Harry Richman, Violet Carlson, Lillian Rother, and others, and Winchell on the sign boards. 9 7/8" x 13 1/8." Condition: laid down on board; some white marks or losses to margins, light surface scuffing, but overall good. TOGETHER WITH: A PALACE THEATER WINCHELL PUBLICITY SCRAPBOOK. Assembled by DON PRINCE in a Radio-Keith-Orpheum Corporation, New York, National Publicity Department booklet/folder, signed and inscribed on cover: "Walter Winchell, With Compliments of Don Prince, Palace Theater, June 10th '31." 14" x 9." Contains four press releases from publicist Don Prince for Winchell appearances, January 6, 1930 to January 12, 1931, including what looks to be the show shown on marquee in the above photograph; and 18 pages of Winchell/Palace press clippings. Condition: Covers of folder detached/edge losses; contents good. Winchell later said of the Palace Theater: "All the years of playing the hick towns, getting the rebuffs and the humiliations and hoping that someday you'll play the Palace... It's difficult for people who weren't part of the old vaudeville days to understand.
