This contemporary black and gold painting by ES Melfi is comprised of a an abstract shape of a woman surrounded by a circle depicting the cycle of life...new life until we leave this life. Inside the central figure is a small inner gold painting, reminiscent of a fetus. The woman is surrounded by energy and protection. I created this painting when my daughter in law was expecting our second grandchild. The beautiful vintage gold frame has history and imperfections much like all of us. Art imitating life.
