Description
Spanish Model 1867 Infantry Officer?s Sword, Toledo, Dated 1867, with Scabbard. Spanish Model 1867 Infantry Officer?s Sword (Espada para Oficial de Infanter?a), manufactured at the celebrated Fabrica de Toledo and retaining its original scabbard. The long, slightly curved single-edged steel blade is distinctly marked along the spine "Fa de Toledo 1867," providing both factory attribution and an unusually precise date of manufacture. Brass regulation hilt with closed knuckle guard, decorative central swelling, recurved rear quillon and elongated langets. The grip retains its period checkered surface to one side, with the opposite side showing age and service wear. Complete with its original brass-mounted metal scabbard and suspension ring. The scabbard exhibits several old soldered repairs consistent with prolonged period use. Blade with scattered oxidation, staining and age-related wear; brass with an attractive untouched patina. A well-used survivor of the Spanish military during the turbulent reign of Queen Isabella II, made at Toledo in 1867 - immediately before the Revolution of 1868 and the fall of the Bourbon monarchy. Overall: 37.25 in. Blade: 30.75.
