Italian Kingdom-era officer's saber, Model 1888, privately purchased through Unione Militare, Roma, the prominent military cooperative serving officers of the Italian armed forces. The straight steel blade is richly acid-etched with elaborate floral and martial decoration, prominently displaying the crowned arms of the House of Savoy and the Savoy eagle with shield. Ricasso marked "UNIONE MILITARE ROMA." Steel D-guard hilt with black ribbed grip. The blade retains strong decoration with scattered age patina and oxidation. The hilt shows untouched brown patina and surface oxidation consistent with age. No scabbard. Overall length: 39.75 in. Blade length: 34.5 in.
