18th Century German silver-mounted agate hilt Hirschf?nger hunting sword. Featuring a substantial faceted honey-colored agate grip mounted in silver, with an elegantly shaped recurved guard terminating in finely worked floral rosettes. The broad, straight double-edged steel blade is housed in its original black leather-covered scabbard with matching silver throat mount. A handsome and scarce example of an aristocratic German hunting weapon of the period. Overall length: 19.5in. Blade length: 14.5in.
