Antique 19th Century Chinese Export solid silver goblet. Formed with a tapering bowl, decorated in high relief with a continuous Chinese landscape populated by figures amongst pagodas, pavilions, pine and bamboo, stylised fish and mythical creatures. The decoration is dense and finely executed combining repoussé and chasing to create depth and texture. The inside of the goblet is double walled. In the center a polished cartouche engraved with a period monogram, surmounted by a bird and flanked by winged figures. The lower section of the bowl terminates in modelled scrollwork before descending to a slender textured stem. The stem is supported by a modelled dragon, continuing into an elaborate circular foot formed with intertwined dragons amongst floral ornament. This combination of workmanship to create such a goblet makes this an especially impressive example of Chinese Export silverwork.
