Striking antique elephant sculpture crafted in heavy cast iron with an original copper-plated (copper wash) finish, dating to the early 20th century. The figure is sculpted in a dynamic pose with raised trunk, finely modeled musculature, and expressive detailing throughout the body.
The surface retains a deep, dark patinated finish with subtle tonal variation consistent with age and period manufacture. The elephant features inserted tusks, likely early composite or bone, adding dimensional contrast and visual interest.
A small drilled opening to the underside of one foot reveals the original cast iron body beneath the copper-plated surface, confirming period construction and material authenticity. The piece presents as solid and stable, with excellent weight and presence for display.
An exceptional decorative object suitable for traditional, eclectic, or curated interior settings.
Estimated Date: Circa 1900-1930.
