Description
This is a large folio size abstract mid century color lithograph (not an offset lithograph) by the world famous modern artist Pierre Tal Coat (France 1905-1985). This image was printed by Maeght (France) for the well known 20th century art journal Derriere Le Miroir. Tal Coat was one of France' great modernists. This image is from the un-numbered ltd. edition. Only the one lithograph is for sale. The image identifying the art journal Derriere Le Miroir simply verifies where the image came from and can be printed out if the buyer so desires. The colors depicted are true.
Derriere le Miroir (DLM) was an art magazine published between 1946 and 1982 by the French publisher and gallery owner Aime Maeght of Galerie Maeght, which for many years was the most important gallery in the world for contemporary art. There were a total of 253 editions in 200 volumes. The magazine, itself designed as an art object presented in a large (11" x 15") format, is illustrated with original lithographs as well as a number of reproductions. Poets and writers like Aragon, Beckett, Char, Eluard, Prevert, Queneau, Reverdy, Sartre, contributed with unpublished texts. Most of the major artists of the second half of the twentieth century created lithographs for DLM
