Description
This rare hand-tinted etched illustration from a French botany collection of mycology is nothing short of extraordinary. This print is of the L'Argaric Fusiforme, a species of mushroom. Agaric is a relation of the regular mushroom, but its tops are convex (or sometimes flat) with the gills on underside of cap. Fusiforme translates into English as 'spindle-shaped, and connotes not just the title of what this mushroom is called but also its pointed-shaped exterior.
Etched illustration was matched and inserted into an equally beautiful antique gold textured frame which shows its age with some minor chips of the antique plaster in some places (as seen in photos) which only enhances the overall aesthetic of this piece. Glass is not museum quality/glare resistant, so it is highly recommended to *not* hang/display in direct sunlight.
