This enchanting double-panel artwork radiates a serene, folkloric charm rooted in the traditions of folk art with touches of naive surrealism. Rendered in a limited palette of soothing pastel blues, lavenders, and soft pinks, the painting balances whimsy and symbolic storytelling. Each panel is bordered with the words "PEACE" and "PAIX" (French for peace), reinforcing a central theme of harmony that transcends language.
The left panel features a stylized female figure with an inverted triangle-shaped dress, adorned with playful elements including birds, flowers, and a fish-each rendered with delicate, decorative linework. A sense of innocence and quiet joy is echoed in her symmetrical form and calm expression. The right panel presents a profile of another figure-perhaps the same person older or a spiritual counterpart-holding a bouquet of intricately detailed flowers and surrounded by birds and botanical motifs. The use of flattened perspective and ornamental framing enhances the piece's folkloric storytelling, reminiscent of European illustration traditions.
The work is signed in the lower right and lower left of each panel, indicating the artist's hand in both halves of this cohesive composition. The piece is housed in a rectangular frame with a dark brown border and white matting, which brings out the contrast in the soft, dreamlike hues.
