Description
20th Century Ironstone Vegetable Tureen with Lid by Buffalo China. Buffalo China was known as a classic example of durable, utilitarian American ceramic ware, and was commonly used as commercial ware in restaurants, trains, and hotels. This piece has a white/off-white glaze, a rounded base with a flared foot and slightly domed lid featuring a looped handle. Simple and unadorned, it focuses on function with a nod to elegance in its symmetrical, curvaceous form. Makers mark on bottom shows "Buffalo China" and the year "1920", which is the production date. These pieces have a timeless appeal and fit well in both vintage and minimalist modern settings.
