Description
This 5-arm sculptural candelabra is a premier example of 1970s Italian "Creazione d'Arte." Recently acquired through Chicago's iconic South Loop Loft and signed by the renowned Prof. Ceccherini, this piece represents a sophisticated bridge between traditional Italian metalwork and the avant-garde Brutalist movement.
The candelabra is expertly cast in solid pewter (Peltro), featuring a sculptural, high-walled base with organic, fluid cutouts and a deeply recessed, hand-hammered texture. Five slender, staggered stanchions rise from the base, topped with wide bobeches to create an architectural silhouette that is both grounded and ethereal. The interplay of the matte metallic finish and the varying heights makes this a standout piece of functional art.
The towering 17.5-inch height makes this an ideal centerpiece for a dining table or a dramatic accent on a mantle. Its neutral metallic tone and sculptural "melted" base allow it to anchor a room while providing a sophisticated, avant-garde edge.
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: Excellent vintage condition. The piece retains its original soft matte pewter patina with very light surface wear consistent with age. Structurally sound with no repairs or deep pitting. The hand-incised 'Prof. Ceccherini' signature and 'Creaz. d'Arte' hallmarks are clear and legible on the base.
