Rocking horses have a long history, evolving from simple wooden toys to elaborate decorative pieces. Early rocking horses were often handcrafted by skilled artisans, becoming cherished items for children and symbols of childhood. Over time, mass production made them more accessible, and they also transitioned into decorative collectibles.

Brass figurines, including rocking horses, gained popularity as decorative items, particularly in the mid-20th century. They were often used to adorn shelves, mantels, or nurseries, adding a touch of elegance or whimsy. The use of brass allowed for detailed casting and a warm, metallic sheen that could be enhanced or aged with patina.
