Description
This set of twelve early to mid twentieth century textile quills features wooden cores tightly wound with burgundy thread and finished with small metal fittings at each end. Pieces of this type were used in weaving and textile production to hold thread within shuttle looms or other weaving equipment. Textile tools like these are commonly collected today as examples of early industrial craft equipment and often displayed as sculptural studio decor or incorporated into fiber-arts collections. The wooden quills are factory used items, but I believe the burgundy textured thread was added later.

Designer's Note
These have wonderful texture and patina from real workshop use, and the deep burgundy thread makes them especially attractive for display in a basket or bowl in a craft studio or library.
