A showstopping example of the Florentine gilded mirror tradition, this substantial Rococo Revival wall mirror features an exuberantly carved frame with a pierced shell-and-scroll crest, sinuous acanthus-carved sides, and a shaped apron below. The warm antique gold finish retains its original water-gilded surface with characteristic red bole showing through at wear points - the hallmark of traditional Italian gold leaf craftsmanship over gesso ground, as opposed to later spray or paint finishes.

The arched mirror glass is framed by pierced and carved foliate ornament throughout, with the asymmetrical energy and organic movement characteristic of high Rococo Revival design. A versatile and dramatic piece equally at home in a traditional interior, an eclectic maximalist space, or as a statement piece in a more minimal room that needs one bold anchor.

Honest age-appropriate gilding wear throughout adds to the character. No cracking, no missing elements, mirror glass clean and clear.
