Description
Very Rare Coastal, Nautical 1960's Classic Vintage Mid-Century Modern Couroc of Monterey, California Serving, Bar Tray With Charming Coral Reef. Depicts the ocean floor with inlaid abalone shell, coral, mother of pearl and seaweed accents as the coral reef. This piece embodies the Couroc claim- "Any tray can serve a drink. Only Couroc can start a conversation."
Couroc of Monterey, founded in 1948, produced a line of decorative items made of a proprietary phenolic resin material that resembled ebony wood and was water, burn, stain, and detergent resistant. Its unique designs were created by members of Monterey Bay's famous art colony.
Featuring hand inlaid motifs made of natural materials such as shells, coins, and wood veneers insured that no two items were exactly the same. The company closed in 1996, yet its legacy continues via its highly collectible, unique designs. NOTE: If you are a Couroc collector, see my store for a treasure trove of divergent designs.
