When this tea caddy was made tea was so valuable that it was kept under lock and key. This beautiful example of an English chinoiserie lacquered tea caddy has gold painted Asian buildings on all sides and is raised on gold metal claw feet. Inside are two inserts with hinged lids and original key is included.
