Written by Captain Edward Michell, Royal Artillery: 1- Varna, 24 July 1854, 4pp; 2- Balttick, 4th. September 1854, 4pp; 3- Balaklava, 17 Jan 1855, 3pp; 4- Kadikoi, 16th. March 1855, 3pp; & 5- Balaklava, 27th. October 1854, 4pp. The first four written to his mother, and the last one to his father, incomplete but with a fine account of his involvement in the Battle of Balaklava & remarks on the Charge of the Light Brigade. Written only two days after these actions and with a sketch of the disposition of the 93rd. (Thin Red Line) his own batteries, etc. [Typed transcription for all five letters included]; Also included, the receipt from "Wallis and Wallis, Auctions" dated 5th.
