Indian Iron & Wood Bullock Cart or Howdah Platform

Description

Indian Rajasthani hardwood and ironwork bullock utility ox-cart or elephant howdah platform, late 19th century-early 20th century. The flat bed featuring a slatted design with ironwork fastenings and rivets running horizontally across the deck. Adapted for use as a low or coffee table.

Provenance: By repute, purchased in New Delhi, India; Private Minnesota Collection.
Height: 15 in x width: 69 in x depth: 60 in.

Condition

There is oxidiation to the iron components. Some losses to the iron. Some areas with signs of polishing. Some losses to the wood. Warping and some cracks to the platform. One iron handle or curved piece disattached but included.
