Description
Japanese white-glazed porcelain parrot, ca. 1860. Modeled with a fierce expression, wings slightly raised, with head turned. It is perched on a pierced rockwork base. Smoothly potted with slight modelling of the wings to suggest feathers. The eyes in a rich dark blue. Though it has been described as a hawk, it is more likely a parrot.
