Very Large Kangxi Famille Verte Dish

Description

Very large Chinese export famille verte charger, Kangxi. The central scene with figures surrounded by radiating panels of small figural and landscape scenes. All within green dotted borders. The reverse with a narrow green-ground border of flowers and the center with an artemisia leaf within a double circle in underglaze blue.

Provenance: Christie's, New York, "Captains & Kilns: European Ceramics, Porcelain & Maritime Art," 20-21 January 2004, Lot 302; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff.
Diameter: 20 1/4 in.

Condition

There are no cracks or restorations. Small chips along the rim throughout. Some light losses to the polychrome along the face of the dish.
