Chinese export Portuguese market armorial porcelain hot water dish, Jiaqing ca. 1800. The center with the arms of Dom Jose Francisco da Costa e Sousa in gilt against a plain ground.

Lot Essay:
Dom Jose Francisco da Costa e Sousa e Albuquerque (1740-1802) was a Portuguese nobleman, military officer, and academic figure who served as the 2nd Visconde de Mesquitela, Chief Armorer of the Royal Household, as well as Governor and Captain-General of the Algarve.
Width: 11 in x diameter: 9 3/4 in x depth: 2 in.

Condition

There are no restorations or cracks. Light wear to the footrim including some fritting. Light surface wear including some light losses to the gilt.
