Chinese Export Armorial Salt - Valckenier
Description
Chinese export armorial porcelain salt, Yongzheng/Qianlong ca. 1735. The center with the arms of Valckenier surrounded along the sides with iron-red and gilt sprays of flowering vines.

Provenance: Christie's, New York, "The Benjamin F. Edwards III Collection of Chinese Export Porcelain, Part III," 20 January 2004, Lot 212; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff.

Lot Essay:
Several members of the influential Valckenier family of Amsterdam were senior in the Dutch East India Company and ordered armorial porcelain. The leading example is Governor-General of the Indies, Andriaan Valckenier.
Height: 1 3/4 in x width: 3 1/2 in x depth: 2 1/2 in.
Condition
There are four areas of repair to the upper rim visible under UV light. One chip to the upper layer of porcelain along one corner.
