Description
Ettore Colla (1896-1968) was a pivotal figure in the twentieth century Italian art scene. After serving in World War One he studied in Paris. Working in the ateliers of Antoine Bourdelle, Constantin Brancusi, and Henri Laurens. After returning to Rome he became a leading abstractionist. In the 1950's he co-founded the group Origine which maintained a studio, gallery, and publication.. His sculptures recognized as the definitive expression of the Italian abstraction movement..
