A captivating contemporary work by American artist Mark Mueller, titled Two Birds. Painted in 2001, this piece features two bold, black silhouettes set against a richly textured white, gray, and earthy background. The acrylic brushwork creates a layered, almost atmospheric effect, with the dark, abstracted bird forms appearing in motion across the surface.
Mark Mueller is known for his minimalist yet expressive compositions, often blending sharp graphic forms with richly worked, abstract grounds. His work explores the tension between simplicity and complexity, encouraging viewers to find narrative and symbolism within deceptively simple shapes. Mueller's paintings have been exhibited in galleries across the United States and are held in both private and corporate collections.
Along the inside edge of the wood support frame, Mueller has handwritten a personal dedication in pencil that appears to read, "Tom, because you love the study and I love you," followed by his initials "MM." This intimate inscription adds a unique layer of provenance and personal history to the piece.
The acrylic painting is executed on a rigid board and is mounted to a simple wood frame structure from behind, providing stability without the presence of an external decorative frame. Signed and dated on the reverse. Wired and ready to hang.

14.5" wide, .75" deep, and 14.5" high.
