Artist Statement
The creation of art has been a lifelong pursuit. My practice is rooted in the physical processes of painting, drawing, cutting, and printing-of layering color on canvas, marking paper, and carving into wood. When I look at my work, I recall the act of making it; the labor and repetition are inseparable from the finished image.
The process itself allows for a meditative engagement through which feelings, stories, and ideas emerge and evolve. Much of my work is informed by physical experience rather than narrative description. Words require structure-a beginning and an end-while visual art remains open to ambiguity, contradiction, and personal interpretation. It is within this openness that my work resides.
