Expertly crafted in the tradition of Austrian cold-painted bronzes, this whimsical Vienna bronze tabby cat couple are seated on Thonet style chairs. The matching table holds a chess board with miniature pieces. The detail is incredible with one feline holding up his latest chess move while his opponent looks on with clinched fists. Note the applied whiskers, tiny pink noses and sharp green eyes.
Austrian bronze figurines were individually cast, carefully sculpted, and meticulously hand-painted, often receiving multiple layers of pigment to achieve their rich colors and lifelike appearance. The fine workmanship and attention to detail displayed in this piece reflect the high standards of Vienna's celebrated bronze
