This exquisite surimono by Totoya Hokkei showcases a courtesan on a veranda. Measuring 7 1/4 x 8 1/4, the print exhibits significant condition issues, including noticeable thinning of the paper, particularly along the bottom edge where it is frayed. The entire piece reveals soiling and age-related toning, with colors that are faded. The reverse side shows staining, featuring a prominent circular stain in the top left corner and evidence of previous mounting. Despite its condition, this private commissioned work is a rare piece steeped in the elegance of Japanese artistry. Hokkei, a distinguished pupil of Hokusai, offers a glimpse into the refined world of ukiyo-e through his unique perspective and craftsmanship.

Shipping:

Pick up and buyer arranged shipping is always welcome. We offer in-house shipping for items that can ship through common carrier. All items will be professionally packed at a reasonable rate. If you paid for the item via Lodestar Auctions or Proxibid we will have your items packaged and send you a link to choose and pay for shipping on the Lodestar Auctions Website.

**Important** Live Auctioneers has their own shipping program. We find it to be very expensive and slow. This is the rate you see advertised when bidding. We do not recommend using them. If you do use them you must checkout via Live Auctioneers and choose LiveShip at checkout. If you pay via Live Auctioneers and want our In-house shipping you must choose self-arranged shipping at checkout. If you checkout via Lodestar Auctions this does not apply. I apologize if this is confusing, Live Auctioneers purposely arranged it this way to push their own overpriced shipping service. We are not happy about this and are trying to make it work.

Issues:

All items sold as is. We do our best to describe accurately and take plenty of non-touched up photos to best represent the item. Any lost or damaged item due to shipping must go through the carriers. Buyer pays any return shipping costs regardless of situation.

Thanks for your patronage and happy bidding!
