This chair is in good condition overall.
Looks like pegged construction & quite heavy/solid, probably oak.
Carved upper back & scroll front arms.
Tag underneath Elgin A. Simonds, NY.

Condition:
Alterations: Unknown
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: Normal marks commensurate with age/use.
The upper back, in the back panel , does show some damage, possibly from water?
No idea if there was another panel over this area.
There is a visible, minor, joint separation on one side, but it is not loose at all.
I see a possible stress crack, on the one side of the frame, but no movement!
