This exquisite Japanese Imari (Arita) porcelain bowl dates to the prestigious Meiji Period (1868-1912). A stunning example of the Kinrande style, this piece features a rich, multi-layered "gold-brocade" aesthetic designed to showcase the wealth and artistry of the era. The bowl comes paired with its original or period-correct hand-carved open-work wooden display stand.

Design & Craftsmanship:
*Artistry: Features a classic triad palette of underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron-red, and heavy 22K gold leaf accents.
*Motifs: The interior is divided into ornate floral panels and geometric reserves, centered by a traditional botanical medallion.
*Form: Elegant lobed or scalloped rim, common in high-end export wares destined for European and American markets during the late 19th-century Japonisme movement.
*Markings: Authenticated by a red underglaze "Dai Nippon" (Great Japan) backstamp on the base.

Display Stand:
The included five-legged stand is expertly carved from dark hardwood (likely Rosewood) with intricate scrollwork motifs. It is structurally sound and specifically designed to cradle the base of the bowl, providing both security and a dramatic visual lift.

Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: Excellent Antique Condition.
1. Porcelain & Glaze
Cracks/Chips: No visible chips, "fleabites," or hairline cracks. The scalloped rim is fully intact with no restoration detected.

Glaze Quality: The glaze remains bright and vitreous. There is no evidence of "crazing" (fine surface cracking), which is common in pieces of this age but absent here.

Kiln Defects: Minor firing irregularities are present on the underside/foot rim, including small pinprick-sized iron spots and "sand" texture-these are standard for Meiji-era production and confirm hand-crafted authenticity.

2. Decorative Enamel & Gilt
Gold Gilt: Approximately 90-95% of the gold leaf remains. There is light, consistent "shelf wear" on the very top edge of the rim and the central medallion, where the bowl would have been handled or cleaned over the last 100+ years.

Enamel: The iron-red and cobalt blue pigments are vibrant and well-bonded. There are no signs of "flaking" or "scrubbing" from over-cleaning.

3. Markings & Base
Backstamp: The red overglaze mark is crisp and legible, showing minimal fading.

Foot Rim: The unglazed ring at the bottom shows age-appropriate darkening and smoothing, consistent with a piece that has sat on a shelf for a century.

4. Wooden Stand
Structural Integrity: All five legs are sturdy and level. No loose joints or wobbling.

Finish: The dark patina is well-preserved. There are no significant gouges, water rings, or repairs to the intricate open-work carving.

Fit: The stand is perfectly sized for this bowl's foot rim, ensuring a secure and centered display.
