Description
With the lighter color of its cherry case contrasting with the darker, beautifully figured mahogany of its drawer faces, this chest has a commanding presence. The cherry cross-banding around the top drawer accentuates the contrasting wood tones nicely..
The vertical reeding on either side of the drawers and the taller than average feet add to the graceful demeanor Neoclassical furniture from the early 1800s is known for. White pine secondary wood, the use of contrasting cherry and mahogany, and the manner of the turned feet all suggest this piece was made in New England.
We acquired this piece from the home of a local interior designer, which is a good endorsement for it being a piece that stands out in both its style and everyday function. We hope it finds a home where it will be appreciated and will have good lighting to show off how spectacular the wood is.
