A fine pair of antique 19th century French Art nouveau fire gilded brass alter candlesticks having a style that is ornate, with textured backgrounds, suggesting an Art Nouveau influence in its organic depiction of nature with bramble leaf and berry decorations as it produces small, bright red, juicy raspberries, sometimes with only a few per fruit, which corresponds to the small, round shapes on the bottom.
The design includes a knopped stem and detailed and unusual gathered fabric motif to the triform base.
The top features a spike, or pricket, to hold the candle and regal scalloped rims.
