Description

Robert Motherwell (American, 1915-1991). Etching with aquatint on paper print titled "Calligraphy IV." Depicting bold black ink forms centered horizontally sweeping across the composition. Featuring a heavy diagonal slash extending towards the upper corner, accompanied by three small ink splotches. Ink signed and numbered 24/30 beneath the lower right corner of the plate. With a Motherwell blindstamp along the lower right corner of the sheet. With a Flanders Contemporary Art label adhered along the verso.
Sight; height: 22 1/2 in x width: 18 in. Framed; height: 25 1/4 in x width: 20 1/4 in x depth: 1 in.

Condition

There are no visible tears or losses. There are scattered regions of foxing throughout the work, primarily along the left margin. Light wear to the deckled edges. Floated in frame atop a non-acidic mat. Framed under glass. Light wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
