This striking mid-century chalkware sculpture by Alexander Backer stands 18 1/2 inches tall and beautifully replicates a bronze original by French sculptor Hippolyte (Hip) Moreau.

A graceful woman, draped in flowing neoclassical garments, appears caught mid-turn, as if paused in a moment of movement. Her gown swirls around her legs and shoulders in fluid, rhythmic folds, animated as though stirred by a gentle breeze. Her left hand, bent at the elbow, holds her wrap tightly against the wind, while her right arm cradles a basket overflowing with flowers.

Finished in a rich bronze tone, the sculpture captures exquisite detail-each fold, petal, and curve brought to life by the play of light on its surface.
