Description
An excellent and rare example of an early American gentleman's portrait. The painting depicts a man of distinction, likely a landowner or professional of some sort. The painting was likely professionally commissioned from an artist in the New England or Mid-Atlantic area. The painting is not signed.
The canvas has been professionally cleaned, restored, framed, and matted. Colors are excellent. (A tear in canvas just above the gentleman's head has been expertly repaired. See photos.)
See photos for an image of a back corner of the canvas showing its age.
A perfect painting to complete that authentic Ralph Lauren vibe!
Condition:
Alterations: Restored
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: The canvas has been professionally restored and framed. A repair was made to the canvas just about the gentleman's head.
