Wonderful Surrealist Tompe L' Oeil still life with driftwood branch in the foreground and a series of botanical sketches pinned in the background as if on a story board. The detail is incredible and the composition is intriguing. The painting is by French artist Lucien Mathelin (1905-1981). I date it c1960s. It is signed on the front but also labeled on the back. There is a French transport label of Arthur Lenard & Cie of Paris.
