Decorate a study, game room, or bar area with this charming antique still life painting. Crafted in France circa 1890, the composition depicts a classic tabletop gaming scene featuring a spread of playing cards, a deck, colorful gaming chips, and a Banque de France one hundred francs note arranged across a green felt surface.
Executed with a naive yet precise hand, the artist captures the textures and details of each element with careful attention, from the worn edges of the cards to the softly aged banknote and the subtle sheen of the coins. The composition is balanced and engaging, with a slightly whimsical quality that brings personality and narrative to the scene, evoking moments of leisure and chance.
The painting is set in its original carved giltwood frame, richly decorated with foliate and beaded motifs, adding depth and elegance to the presentation. The work is signed in the lower right corner.
This antique artwork is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with light wear consistent with its age and a beautifully aged surface throughout.
