Description
At Turtle & Crane, we turn the past into stunning decor for today. This pair of mid-century captain's chairs is attributed to the Ashcraft line by Heywood-Wakefield. The legs and backs have a rattan-look finish, and decorative paper cord wraps the fronts of the arms and legs, a detail that gives the chairs a coastal, collected look.
Made in the United States in the mid 20th century, each chair measures 22" wide, 22.5" deep, and 30.5" high, with a seat 21.5" wide and 17" high. They are a good size for a dining table, a desk, or as a pair of accent chairs in a living room. The chairs are unmarked. A page from the Heywood-Wakefield catalog showing the Ashcraft line is in the last photograph, for comparison. In the Mid-Century Modern and Coastal tradition, they suit Palm Beach and Hollywood Regency rooms as well, where a pair of arm chairs in a lighter finish keeps a room from feeling too heavy.
