Mid-century Modern copper and iron book rack, attributed to Arthur Umanoff, circa 1950s. This sculptural piece embodies the ingenuity of Umanoff's design philosophy, blending utilitarian function with artistic form. The rack features a minimalist iron framework with clean, angular lines, supported by a base of rich copper with a warm patina. The copper accents not only provide stability but also introduce a striking contrast to the industrial black iron, showcasing a harmonious interplay of materials. The geometric design is both practical and decorative, embodying the era's shift toward modernist aesthetics with an emphasis on open, airy structures. This piece would serve as a sophisticated addition to any modern interior, offering both storage and a statement of timeless design.
