Fall Landscape - 3

Exceptional Mid-Century Modern Landscape by noted Virginia artist Sally Turner (American - 20th Century.)

Original oil on paper, titled and signed by artist in charcoal.

Framed package is 15.75" tall by 13.25" wide and 1" deep. Frame is a silver/gold gilt finish with a museum style soft white mat in an offset cut.

Visible image: approx. 7 1/2" x 6 3/4".

Fantastic large texture colors - bold green, red, blue, and every shade of gold, purple, yellow and more, with perfect infusions of white.

In keeping with Aesop's fable, Fox and Crow's Motto is "Beware of False Flattery!" So, with each listing we offer a true confession about the item...

Sally Turner and her husband Ted were important contributors to the University of Virginia Fine Arts program as faculty members - becoming noted and popular regional artists in the process.

Around our home region of Charlottesville, when a Turner comes to auction, lots of very wise folks pay attention.

My husband and I have both Ted Turners and Sally Turners in our collections, and we actually prefer Sally's style - pure mid-century in the best way!

This piece is one we rescued. It was lost in a tired afterthought frame under decades of dust, and we upgraded the frame - preserving the artist's original signature on the caption band below the image.

Quite simply, this is a wonderful modern American piece with a recognized pedigree.
