Antique Victorian Eastlake Platform Rocker - Model No. 60

Description

exceptional Antique Victorian Platform Rocker (circa 1880-1890) is a premier example of the Eastlake movement, characterized by its architectural "spool" turnings and geometric elegance. Unlike standard rocking chairs, this "platform" or "spring" rocker features a stationary base with a heavy-duty internal spring mechanism. This innovative 19th-century design provides a smooth, balanced glide while preventing the chair from "creeping" across the floor or damaging expensive carpets.
