This work was created by a painstaking process of painting the image in reverse on the inside of the glass, requiring a great deal of precision and resulting in a painting with great depth. Combined with the beautiful color palate and usage of materials such as foil and mother of pearl, this piece has a surreal, dreamlike quality that takes you into its world.

Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: Common in reverse paintings of this age, there are several spots where paint has flecked off of the inside of the glass. These are mostly in the brown wall of the cottage, which blend in well and appear to be part of the painting. They seem to be stable and unlikely to progress. Light scratches on wooden frame.
