Early 20th Century Silvered Bronze Sculpture Le Serment by Ruffany

Description

"The Oath" (Le Serment) captures a powerful, solemn moment of a soldier made of silvered bronze and mounted on marble and an onyx base. It is attributed to Swiss sculptor, Oscar Ruffony (O. Ruffony) (born 1874) and dates back to the 20th Century.

The figure is shown with a sword, symbolizing readiness and commitment, as he takes his oath. It is a young, athletic, partially undressed male figure, embodying classical ideals.
