Length:124cm(48.82in)Width:69cm(27.17in)This is a vertical scroll of green?and?blue landscape on silk, attributed to Huang Gongwang (Huang Zijiu) of the Yuan Dynasty. It retains its original antique mounting with red?wood scroll rollers covered in aged patina. The outer label is inscribed “Genuine Vertical Scroll of Green?and?Blue Landscape by Huang Zijiu, Sanxitang”.Painted on ancient silk, the work adopts the heavy?colour green?and?blue landscape technique. Layered lofty mountains rise one after another. Rocks are rendered with mineral azurite and malachite pigments, set off by ochre against the antique silk ground. Wispy clouds drift among mountain valleys, winding streams flow through the scene, and luxuriant trees are scattered across the landscape. Pavilions, terraces and reclusive dwellings nestle by waters and ravines. Bridges span rivulets while scholarly figures wander amid the mountains, presenting an idyllic fairy?land?like realm.
