Painted on aged silk, the work depicts plateau among mountains with twisting?vigorous ancient pine and dense pine?needles rendered by solid rock texture strokes. Under the pine, one scholar plays zither while his bosom?friend sits listening, with a boy attendant standing aside. Figures are delicately portrayed in tranquil and leisurely expressions. Multiple imperial and literary poems are inscribed on the painting. Well?balanced composition integrates landscape and figures, recreating the elegant artistic conception of high?mountain?and?running?water story.
